Job Summary
|
The Data Center Operator is responsible for delivering high-quality monitoring and operational support for the Bank’s Data Center, ensuring services are maintained in accordance with established SLAs. The role includes monitoring IT infrastructure and applications, managing batch job operations, and performing backup and restore activities. It also involves coordinating with vendors and internal IT teams to support incident resolution and ensure the stability and availability of services.

Job Responsibilities
|
In This Role You will be Responsible For :

Shift Operations
- Work in a 24x7 shift rotation as per the defined roster
- Provide operational support during non-business hours, including VIP support when required
Data Center Monitoring & Operations
- Monitor and document availability, performance, and capacity of in-scope systems and devices
- Monitor hardware, environmental parameters, and overall Data Center health
- Identify, log, and report system issues proactively
- Notify relevant teams or vendors when critical thresholds are reached
Batch Processing & Scheduling
- Perform batch job execution and monitoring
- Manage job restarts, conflict resolution, and expedited job execution
- Document and report batch job status and maintain scheduling logs
- Notify and coordinate with relevant teams for errors or issues during batch job execution
- Recommend improvements to scheduler configurations and processes
Backup & Recovery Management
- Execute and monitor scheduled backup processes
- Perform data backup and restoration activities as required
- Maintain and update approved backup and recovery procedures
Incident & Event Management
- Monitor and manage events and alerts end-to-end
- Perform incident logging, classification, and initial diagnosis
- Determine severity and scope, and initiate appropriate response
- Escalate incidents to relevant Level 2/Level 3 support teams
- Provide timely updates to the Service Desk, especially for major incidents
- Record resolution details in the ITSM tool
Technical Support
- Provide Level 1 support based on predefined scripts and procedures
- Support end-user hardware/software issues, including Windows and authorized applications
- Coordinate with vendors and higher support teams when required
- Assist users with basic troubleshooting and service requests
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure maximum system uptime
- Support Service Desk and application teams in issue resolution and communication
- Provide timely updates and reports to customers and stakeholders
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain operational logs, work registers, and process documentation
- Ensure all activities comply with security policies and audit requirements
- Adhere to ITSM processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management
Capacity & Reporting
- Monitor workloads and provide insights for capacity planning
- Generate operational reports as required by the customer
Asset & Inventory Management
- Assist in asset tracking, inventory management, and updates
Ensure accurate recording of assets within the system

Qualifications & Education Requirements
|
- Graduate in Computer Science (Preferred)
- Graduate in Science with a Diploma or Certification in IT
- ITIL Foundation Certification (Preferred)
- Microsoft Certification, Ideally MCP or MCSE (Preferred)
- Network Certification (CCNA / Network+) (Preferred)

Skills
|
- Operational knowledge of IBM AS400 systems
- Experience in banking or financial institutions (preferred)
- Working knowledge of monitoring tools such as DCIM, SolarWinds, vRealize, Oracle Cloud Manager, SCOM, ServiceNow, and Ivanti
- Hands-on experience in data backup, restoration, and tape management
- Strong technical knowledge of desktop hardware and end-user computing devices and Data Center Facilities
- Basic understanding of servers, storage and network infrastructure
- Proficiency in software and hardware troubleshooting
- Experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems
- Good understanding of ITIL Service Operations and Service Management principles

HSE Requirement
|
- Collaborate with HSE teams to implement safety controls, manage hazardous materials, and mitigate impacts.
- Promote a culture of safety within engineering teams, ensuring that all projects prioritize the well-being of employees and the environment.
- Reports on progress/issues to HSE focal point
- Provide administrative support to the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) department. Maintain and organize HSE documentation, including records of incidents, audits, and training sessions.
- Support HSE focal point for all types of emergencies
